The hotel was located in an interesting little town. The room was attractive and the air-con worked well. Breakfast was simple and cheap - toast, butter, jam, orange juice and coffee. It's a little off the beaten track but worth the journey.

We travelled to Santo Domingo de Silos to visit the monastery and listen to the monks' chanting. This hotel is situated next to the monastery and the bus stop is 50m from the front door of the hotel. The staff is very friendly, but speak limited English so patch up your Spanish before you go.

Santo Domingo de Silos is lovely little town that was situated between hills. If you like peaceful atmosphere, medieval landcape or you just want to feel like a pilgrim to Santiago, Santo Domingo de Silos is a perfect place to realise these wishes. Hotel is located oposite to the benedictine monastery with famous romanesque columns. Staff are very friendly. The local wine is worth to taste it!!

The hotel is very pretty - nice entrance, and has parking right out front. The monastery is directly across the street - 2 min. Walk to hear the beautiful chanting of the monks. I thoroughly enjoyed the chanting - and went to listen at least 3 times during my stay. Get the spa room if you can. Enjoy the monks - they are phenomenol.
The food in the hotel restaurant is just so-so - expensive for what you get. What was most laughable however was that for 3.60 euros you get breakfast - well breakfast here consists of one cup of coffee and 3 slices of toast (which was the cheap american sliced white bread) - it was dreadful. I asked for a 2nd cup of coffee - and was charged for it upon checkout. Seriously? I would be embarassed as a hotel owner to charge for a 2nd cup of coffee when 99% of the places in Europe that offer breakfast provide endless coffee. No english spoken here at all - how do you run a hotel business like that? I recommend this hotel for sleeping only - eat elsewhere. Do not go for the breakfast. Waste of money - truly. For dinner one night we went up the street across from the pharmacy in the little square - single owner (male) - don't recall the name of the place - great food - fabulous experience.

If you're looking for a charming hotel in a village center, with a friendly atmosphere and a great location near historic monuments and natural beauty, this is the place for you. The staff is attentive and helpful, speaking only Spanish which is common in small villages. The rooms are comfortable and traditionally furnished, with air conditioning and soundproofing for a peaceful stay. You can enjoy a delicious breakfast for a reasonable price, and relax in the wonderful pool after a day of exploring.
They could use more staff to handle the busy periods.
